Shahla Hosseini

b.1954, Tehran, Iran

Shahla Hosseini (b. 1954, Tehran, Iran) is a prominent multidisciplinary artist based in Tehran with a degree in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Tehran University.

Her simple yet profound artworks invite viewers to reflect on the perennial flow of time and the delicate balance between life and death. Many of the objects used in her mixed-media artworks are connected to her personal life and childhood memories and address the natural process of erosion, aging, and returning to dust. Shahla Hosseini gives these objects new life through her collages, incorporating them into mysterious machines and charts that map and measure the intangible layers of existence and help create equilibrium between memories.

Shahla Hosseini has held numerous solo exhibitions and her work has been featured in various shows inside and outside Iran. In addition to being in the permanent collection of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, her work is kept in several national and international collections.
